What is a PER in NBA?
The player efficiency rating (PER) is a rating of a player’s per-minute productivity. To generate PER, I created formulas — outlined in tortuous detail in my book “Pro Basketball Forecast” — that return a value for each of a player’s accomplishments.
How is +/- calculated?
+/- – the plus/minus statistic is a measure of the point differential when players are in and out of a game. It is calculated by taking the difference in the score when the player enters the game and subtracting it from the score when the player exits the game.
What does +/- mean on 2k?
The +/- stat is a statistic that looks at the point differential when players are both in and out of the game, to see how the team performs with various combinations. The +/- stat can look at a variety of combinations including the best two player, three player and even five player combinations for each game.
How is vorp calculated NBA?
VORP – Value Over Replacement Player (available since the 1973-74 season in the NBA); a box score estimate of the points per 100 TEAM possessions that a player contributed above a replacement-level (-2.0) player, translated to an average team and prorated to an 82-game season.
How do you find the real plus minus?
Its computation is simple. If a player’s team outscores his opponent by 5 points while he’s on the court, his plus-minus is +5. You can easily convert this into a per-minute or per-possession metric. The problem with plus-minus is that it doesn’t account for the quality of a player’s teammates and opponents.
What is a good vorp?
Technically anything above 0 is good. Same goes for Box Plus/Minus, which is just a rate-adjusted variation of VORP.
